Hackers Steal Data vigilant Bank Credit Card - Details of the data of millions of customers who have credit cards stolen in the UK at risk for hackers. Credit cards are commonly used in shops and restaurants are potentially compromised by hackers who steal data through the chip and PIN machine.
Reported by the Telegraph, Tuesday (07/31/2012), security flaws have been identified in some of the chip and PIN terminal, which allows thieves to download personal information from its credit card customers. As a result, thousands of terminals that are commonly found in stores and restaurants in the UK, should be re-programmed.
The experts found a security flaw, which affects the payment card terminal using a card and PIN number for the transaction. Security consultant, MWR Infosecurity show that it can lead to vulnerability to hacking activity.
Use the terminal second hand purchased through eBay, MWR access the computer code used in the terminal. Using the code for the program, Palus chip and PIN card, they can load the chip with malicious software that can reprogram the device reader.
Fake cards can be made such as a credit card or debit card used for criminal purposes with ease at the store or cafe. Fake cards and then transfer the software to the reader, to then start storing details of all the cards are inserted next.
A spokesman from the security company said in a demonstration that it does, they just got the card number and PIN. "It will provide magnetic data path to clone cards," he said.
