SEOUL - Hackers broke into customer data wireless telecommunications service provider, KT Corp in South Korea. A total of 8.7 million customer records could be stolen by hackers and reveals some important information belongs to the customer.
Reported by International Business Times, Sunday (7/29/2012), KT Corp. apologized after the personal data of millions of mobile subscribers has been compromised by hackers. This is the latest incident in a series of hacking cases involving personal information on a large scale.
Police said two computer programmer has been arrested for hacking his actions that steal private data from 8.7 million subscribers, KT. KT reveals that the number of its mobile subscribers totaled 16 million.
Police are also investigating seven other suspects who allegedly bought and used the stolen customer data KT's. The data includes names, resident registration number and telephone number.
"We apologize sedalamnya for your concern," KT spokesman said via statement. The company said it has blocked all further unauthorized access to data. Reportedly, hacking activity that has been done since February 2012.
In November, more than 13 million subscribers Korea Nexon Corp., a leading game developer, a victim of hacker attacks. Several months before the cases occurred Nexon Corp Korea, 35 million users of internet portals and blogging sites are operated by SK Comms (mobile internet service provider Korea), China is also under attack from hackers.
