Avoid Cyber Attack, Iran Selected Disconnect from the Internet - Iran will move the strategic state ministries and agencies of the world on the internet next month, in an effort to protect their computers behind a wall safe from cyber attacks.
Telegraph proclaimed, Minister of Communication of Iran, Reza Taghipour said the move was taken because of sensitive intelligence in the web is a fragile thing.
"The establishment of a national intelligence network will create a situation where the state valuable intelligence will not be accessible by this force," said Taghipour.
He described the move as the first stage of a project that aims to replace the global Internet with domestic intranet system. The system is scheduled to be completed within 18 months.
Opponents have criticized this plan as an effort to resist western influence on the internet, as well as to tighten online surveillance of political activists and critics of the regime.
While Iranian officials have repeatedly spoken that it creates an alternative internet. This latest announcement comes after upheaval Stuxnet and Flame. Both are believed to have been developed jointly by the U.S. and Israel.
